Older adults are susceptible to falls, fractures and other injuries. Rehabilitation therapy addresses a number of frailties that may occur in older adults, and helps them maintain their health and enjoy a higher quality of life. It can speed the recovery process from an injury and help an older person avoid future mishaps.

The JAA offers outpatient rehabilitation services to the public through the Charles M. Morris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Highly-trained staff

The Morris Center houses a rehabilitation department staffed by physical, occupational and speech therapists who are experts in geriatric rehabilitation. Our excellent staff of therapists can assist you or your family member to improve or maintain functional skills.

Preventive medicine

While many people don’t seek therapy until after an accident, surgery, or injury, therapy is even more effective as preventive medicine. By providing hands-on treatment and consultation in mobility, activities-of-daily-living, communication and swallowing, it may be possible to prevent premature decline.

Effective wellness and prevention programs can reduce the risk for falls, fractures, head trauma, burns, depression and functional decline, thus avoiding expensive hospital and/or nursing facility admissions.

Medicare covers therapy

Skilled maintenance programs provided by physical, occupational and speech/language therapists are covered by Medicare. These services include an evaluation by a licensed therapist, program development, and training for the client and caregivers. The purpose of the skilled maintenance program is to assist the client to attain or maintain his/her highest functional level in the least restrictive environment.

Clients must have a physician’s referral to be eligible for treatment.
