OUR MESSAGE TO YOU Dear Friends, Life. Love. Legacy. These are things for which we share a deep and abiding passion. At the Jewish Association on Aging, we are all too aware of the uncertainties of life and that a legacy is built as a cornerstone for the future. We design and grow that legacy with love every day. As a nonprofit founded in 1906, our mission and values remain fundamentally linked to respecting and dignifying the life, love, and legacy of every aging adult we serve. The growth in services that JAA has undertaken in these past several years, including some of the achievements recognized in 2018, provides us with a unique perspective on the changing needs of seniors. Today’s JAA is expanding as quickly as the community we serve. New opportunities and expanded services to our region include: • AHAVA Memory Care Center of Excellence, which opened at full capacity in 2018. • Our own Home Health services that grew 57% over the past year. • Telemedicine that has decreased the need for hospital readmissions. • A nighttime dementia program in our Anathan Club, the first of its kind in Pennsylvania. • An affiliation with The New Riverview, planned as part of JAA’s family of senior care services. Innovative programs at JAA are made possible in part through: • Gifts and pledges to our $18 million Capital Campaign. • The inauguration of Grinspoon Life & Legacy to build our endowment, a program embraced by 14 local Jewish organizations. • Our Annual Fund that offsets a small portion of the $3-$4 million in free care we provide to our most vulnerable seniors. We thank our donors, volunteers, and friends who share our passion and help to provide the best lives possible for seniors in our care. Their generosity and love of seniors keep the momentum of JAA moving at a rapid and steady pace. Together, through our legacy of love, we are reinventing aging. Sincerely, Andrew Stewart, Chair, Board of Directors Deborah Winn-Horvitz, President & CEO
