2018 ANNUAL REPORT 3 MEMORY CARE Opened AHAVA Memory Care Residence, the region’s premier community for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Both phases of the new residence were completely full when opened. Admitted the Commonwealth’s first nighttime memory client at Anathan Club for those with dementia who do not sleep well at night, thus providing daily caregivers much-needed rest during nighttime hours. Strengthened collaborations with local arts and culture organizations including Carnegie Museum of Art and Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to encourage artistic talents of seniors with memory loss. OUTPATIENT THERAPY Completed our first full year providing physical therapy at our second location at the Jewish Community Center, through PT@JCC, by serving 400 new clients. SIVITZ JEWISH HOSPICE Launched the Medicare Care Choices Model where patients with certain life-limiting illnesses meeting specific Medicare criteria receive supportive care and services prior to electing traditional hospice Medicare benefits. According to the new CMS hospice care website, Sivitz outpaced all state and national averages for quality and satisfaction. 1st Nighttime Memory Client ADMITTED THE COMMONWEALTH’S WEINBERG VILLAGE & WEINBERG TERRACE With the generosity of Dr. Penn Lupovich and the Nathan and Reta Natanson Lupovich Academic & Cultural Enrichment Fund, intellectually stimulating activities are provided for more diversity in programming, fewer cost barriers, and greater participation among residents. Weinberg Terrace was named the Number One Senior Living Community in the east by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette readers.
