JAA Names Medical Director to Personal Care Communities

John Naumovski, MD, PhD has been appointed as Medical Director of Weinberg Terrace and Weinberg Village, personal care communities within the Jewish Association on Aging.

Dr. Naumovski served as co-medical director of JAA’s Charles Morris Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in addition to his other clinical duties with UPMC.

In 2014, he joined the UPMC Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at its Senior Care Institute after being in private practice.  Dr. Naumovski completed a geriatric fellowship at UPMC St. Margaret in 2008.

“It will be my pleasure and honor to continue collaborating with the fine staff at both communities,” says Dr. Naumovski.  “I look forward to continuing to care for our patients on what will be a new team for me.”

According to JAA President & CEO Deborah Winn-Horvitz, “Licensed personal care and assisted living facilities in Pennsylvania do not require a medical director. JAA is looking at this as a best practice, repositioning the role of medical director for the remaining residential facilities within our continuum of care.”

Since JAA’s Ahava Memory Care Center of Excellence opened in 2017, Richard Weisman, MD, has served as medical director, specializing in neurology.

In their role as medical directors, both physicians provide guidance and oversight to JAA’s clinical staff, not replacing, but serving as a resource to the primary care physicians of residents.

The appointment of Dr. Naumovski is effective February 1, 2021.
