Volunteer Spotlight: Karen Friedman

Thursday, April 28, 2022

Karen Friedman is a most welcome face around the JAA (even with her mask!) because we know that she is here to visit our Sivitz Hospice residents. Karen has been an amazing volunteer for years, bringing her soft spoken love and compassion to our patients and their families. “I come because I want to be with people at the end of their lives,” she explains. “I look to form a connection, to show them that they are not alone.”  Whether it is a hand that needs to be held, a quick conversation, or a pillow that needs to be fluffed, Karen spends quality time caring and sharing her love. “When I leave at the end of my visit, I feel that I have made a difference.  That sustains me and adds so much quality to my own life.”
