HEADING TO THE EVENT?

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS IN ADVANCE OF JUNE 24

Thank you for ordering tickets to JAA’s Broadway Under the Stars. We are so excited you will be joining us for this special Drive-In event to benefit the Jewish Association on Aging!

After these many difficult months apart, we look forward to being together again. We decided to host an outdoor event out of an abundance of caution, maintaining health and safety as our top priority, just as we have been throughout the pandemic.

Our guest star, Mandy Gonzalez, will be performing via live-stream video on a big screen at Heinz Field’s Gold Parking Lot 1 for those who Drive-In or on your home computer or smart TV if you View-At-Home.  We are happy to bring the live performance to our JAA residents, thanks to your support.

Here is some helpful information to prepare you for the evening. Please read the entire confirmation so you are aware of important details regarding the event.

Tickets

To be a part of this special event, each guest is required to have a ticket. AN ELECTRONIC TICKET WILL BE EMAILED TO EACH GUEST IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT, preferably before June 21. You may print and bring the ticket with you or show the bar code on your mobile device for us to scan as you enter the parking lot gate if you Drive-In or when you pick up your food cooler at JAA if you select to View-At-Home.  If you do not have the capacity to print your ticket or do not use a mobile device, please contact Mitchell Magiera by Monday, June 21, by calling 412 586-2690 or at mmagiera@jaapgh.org.

Food

Everyone whose ticket has been scanned will receive a cooler with food, soft drinks and cool treats (with dietary laws observed). Coolers will include options for vegetarians. For the Drive-In, there will be one cooler per ticket delivered to your vehicle once you have parked. You may elect to enjoy the pre-concert entertainment in the parking lot before the show begins and eat your food during the concert.  ONLY if you select to view from your own home, you will pick up your cooler at JAA the day of the performance, June 24, between 11 AM and 5 PM.

Your Guests

If you are a sponsor or have purchased tickets without providing the names of your guests, we will be reaching out to you by phone or email before June 24 to ask for the details regarding your guests.  We need to know how many guests will be attending; if coming to the Drive-In, how many vehicles you expect; names and emails of your guests, etc.

It is important that you confirm your guest list as soon as possible. If your guest list changes at the last minute, that’s fine. You can email mmagiera@jaapgh.org with those changes up until 11 AM the day of the event.  Guests will receive electronic tickets and instructions about the event.

To View the Concert Presentation at the Heinz Field Drive In

This is a ticketed, drive-in event and entrance is based on individual ticket sales. You may not arrive with a vehicle full of guests unless a ticket for each individual in the vehicle has been purchased either individually or through a group sponsorship.

NO VEHICLE WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE DRIVE-IN EVENT WITHOUT OUR BEING ABLE TO SCAN A BARCODE FROM EITHER A PRINTED TICKET OR MOBILE DEVICE WITH ELECTRONIC TICKETS CLEARLY SHOWN.  As stated above, if you are unable to print or use a smart phone, all us in advance of the event, preferably by June 21.

Entering the Gold Lot to Park at the Drive-In

There are three entrance lanes to Gold Lot 1 (two lanes off West General Robinson Street and one lane off Art Rooney Way).  The address of Gold Lot 1 is 792 West General Robinson Street, Pittsburgh PA 15212. Directions available here.  There are no reserved parking spaces, and we advise you to come early. Plan to arrive before the gates open at 6 PM. Entertainment will be provided in the parking lot beginning at 6 PM. Each vehicle will be directed to a parking space on a first-to-arrive, first-to-park basis.  If you wish to park with friends coming in other vehicles, you should arrive together to park near each other. Unlike a traditional drive-in, you will not choose your parking space.

Restrooms

Six portable restroom units will be placed on the perimeter of the parking lot, including three accessible units.

Accessible Parking

A limited number of accessible parking spaces for those with disabilities are designated near the accessible portable restroom units and adjacent to the parking lot exit. If you need to park in the accessible parking area, please enter the event from Art Rooney Way and let the person at the check-in gate know your accessible parking needs. Please have your accessibility placard/license plate visible on your vehicle.

Drinking Alcohol/BYOB

Anyone over the age of 21 may BYOB, following all Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board regulations. If you do BYOB, a designated driver must be present in each vehicle where alcohol is consumed. Please drink responsibly. JAA is not responsible for anyone who may over-indulge.

Bring Your Own Lawn Chairs

You may enjoy the show from the comfort of your vehicle. You may also bring lawn chairs to sit in the parking lot. If you’d rather not watch from your own vehicle, sit in your lawn chairs anywhere in the parking lot except within the driving lanes. The front rows will be reserved for lawn chairs if you wish to sit in a group. Parking rows have names on light poles to help you find your friends and sit together.

Sound/Listening at the Drive-In

To hear the performance in your vehicle, audio plays from your FM radio. At the event, we will announce how to do this without your vehicle running.  Your car manual should address how to do this.  It is not mandatory to hear the performance through your radio. Stationary speakers will be set up across the parking area to enhance sound during the performance. At times, however unlikely, be aware there may be a slight delay between the video you see on the screen and the audio you hear.

To View The Performance at Home

If you elect to view the performance in your home

Rather than choose to attend the Drive-In event, you may prefer to view the concert presentation at home. During the week leading up to the performance, all ticket holders will be sent an internet link with directions about how to access the show on your computer or smart TV.

Food Pick-Up If Viewing at Home

Only those who elect to View-At-Home may pick up food coolers from JAA’s main campus the day of the event. Bring either a printed copy of the ticket emailed to you or your mobile device with the electronic ticket to JAA at 200 JHF Drive, Pittsburgh PA  15217 between the hours of 11 AM and 5 PM on June 24.

Only those who have selected the option to View-At-Home should pick up their coolers at JAA. All Drive-In guests will receive coolers at Heinz Field. One cooler per ticket is provided.

As stated on Page 2, if you are unable to print or use a smart phone, call us in advance of the event, preferably by June 21.

Impact of Weather on Either the Drive-In OR View-At-Home Options

The Drive-In event will take place if there is light rain, but THERE WILL BE NO DRIVE-IN IF LIGHTNING OR HIGH WINDS ARE FORECAST FOR THE EVENING OF JUNE 24.  If the Drive-In event is cancelled for any reason, you will be contacted by email or phone beginning the afternoon of the event notifying you of the Drive-In cancellation. However, THE CONCERT PRSENTATION WILL GO ON.

No matter what, on June 24 beginning at approximately 7 PM, JAA will present Mandy Gonzalez performing live from New York via streaming video/audio. Everyone with an internet connection and computer or smart TV will be able to view the concert at home.  Ticket holders will be sent the internet link to view the show at home if the Drive-In is canceled.

How to Get Your Cooler if the Drive-In is Canceled

If the Drive-In is canceled, food coolers FOR EVERY TICKET HOLDER (whether Drive-In or View-At-Home patrons) may be picked up at JAA’s main campus, 200 JHF Drive, Pittsburgh 15217 before 5 PM on June 24. There will be one cooler per ticket. The concert presentation begins at approximately 7 PM if the Drive-In is canceled. Because this event is an important fundraiser to benefit JAA residents and services we provide to seniors, no discounts or refunds will be given if the Drive-In event is canceled, as it will be available as a virtual View-At-Home event.

One More Thing

JAA is also holding a raffle, “JAA On Broadway,” that offers a three-night stay for two at the Kimpton Muse Hotel (130 West 46th Street), two tickets to two Broadway shows of your choice (subject to availability), and round trip airfare from PIT to LGA. Plus, you get a $250 American Express gift card to spend on yourself!  You have a year to redeem your prize. Every raffle ticket gives you two chances to win, with two numbers eligible for the Daily PA Lottery Pick 3 on Friday, June 25 at 1:35 PM.  Buy your raffle tickets now ($30/ticket, 5 for $120) at bit.ly/AOARaffle21. During the Drive-In event, raffle tickets will be sold by volunteers throughout the parking lot.

Tax Receipt

If you are the ticket purchaser, a separate tax receipt with notice of your purchase will be sent to you. Simply keep that tax receipt for your records.
