JAA Thanks Our Pennsylvania Direct Care Worker of the Year

Friday, October 1, 2021

Rickie Dell’s reign as Pennsylvania Direct Care Worker of the Year Award is coming to a close, and we take a moment to honor and thank her for her longstanding service to JAA and Sivitz Hospice & Palliative Care.

We are thrilled that the Pennsylvania Department of Aging & PA Homecare Association’s selected Rickie based on the quality of her work, her dedication to providing compassionate care, and her commitment to the mission of Sivitz Hospice.  She shows love and compassion for all of the patients for whom she devoutly   cares.

Rickie has been a certified nursing assistant with JAA  for 15 years, four of those with Sivitz Hospice.  Rickie is always looking for ways to better herself as an aide and person.  Her work ethic is outstanding, ensuring patients’ needs are met, including special requests or needs.

It is typical of Rickie to stop at a Jewish deli on her way to a patient’s home to pick up their favorite beets or Challah bread.  Patients and their families often comment that Rickie’s visit is the highlight of their day.

Rickie is gifted with the ability to use humor and a lightheartedness to bring levity to an environment that can be highly stressful. We constantly hear how wonderful and funny Rickie is — making a patient who typically is not open to visitors break down and giggle.

Thank you,  Rickie,  for your dedication to JAA, Sivitz Hospice, and our patients!
