Cooking demonstrations are a treat for all of us at JAA. During Chanukah, we learned from one of our experts, Mashgiach Eli Wilansky, whose olive oil making was deliciously invigorating. Raw olives were used along with this special aparatus to squeeze the oil out of them. Eli explained the process to help us understand how the oil is used to power Chanukah candles. While we don’t use candles at JAA (for safety reasons, our menorah displays are electric), it was fascinating to learn what it takes to make fresh olive oil.
